ARDUINO
"Conditional Design is a design method formulated by the graphic designers Luna Maurer,Jonathan Puckey, Roel Wouters and the artist Edo Paulus which foregrounds process over finished products. As a design strategy, it is defined be playfully designed sets of rules and conditions that stimulate collaboration between participants and lead to unpredictable outcomes."

Conditional Design by definition is:
The first conditional design exercise specifically required 3-4 participants. With the intention to create 'The Perfect Circle' each player taking turns in a clockwise rotation had to draw a circle one after another. Each participant received a different colored pen (red, green, blue or black) to differentiate the circle in which they drew. As a general outcome the circles in which each group within my class created were very neat and precise. However a clear difference was the size of the finish circle in which indicated the varied pace each group worked. Some circles almost took up the entire A3 sheet of paper, whereas others only filled a quarter of the page.
The Perfect Circle
The Beach
Another conditional design exercise named 'The beach' required the same number of participants , approximately 3-4. The aim of this exercise was to cover the entire page with coloured dots within a short time frame of 5 minutes. Each person would quickly dot the page with their marker one after another.

Towards the end of the task each persons dotted mark making came together to form a sand like effect; collaboratively forming 'The beach'.

Hatching
The 'Hatching' conditional design exercise required more specific actions from each individual player. A particular rule corresponded with each coloured marker. For instance the person with the black marker was restricted to only draw lines within 0-45 degrees. The blue marker could only be used to create lines within 45-90 degrees. The red marker for 90-135 degrees and the green marker for 150-180.
Prior to this the initial setup of the task consisted of each player dotting the page at at arbitrary position. Keeping in mind that dots had to be placed no further than 10cm from each other.
With all these rules in place, each player took it in turn to connect two dots together. The aim was to draw the shortest possible line from their initial starting point, whilst hatching in the lines parallel to the lines in which each person sectioned off.
When the exercise was completed almost the entire page was filled with either: red, blue, black or green puzzle like pieces.
